This tutorial will help you start modeling Flowchart diagrams in GenMyModel.

We will start with creation of a New Project from the GenMyModel dashboard.

• How to create a new project and open it in the editor ?   
• Not familiar with GenMyModel work environment ? 

Once it's done, press the Open in Editor button to open the GenMyModel work environment.

Multi-Diagramming

This is one of the unique GenMyModel features. Mostly useful in UML diagramming, Flowchart benefits too of this very unique feature - multi-diagramming. What does it mean ? It mean, that you can add the same shape / object by dragging it from the Project tab multiples times in the same diagram and even in multiple diagrams. They can have different visual representation (color, position, dimension), but they all will have same properties, like the name or custom properties. 

For example, renaming one shape / object, will instantly rename all the others and in all the others diagrams.

There are several ways to create elements in GenMyModel.

Create Shapes

Way 1 - Drag&Drop

Drag&Drop the needed shape from the toolbar OR select the needed shape from the toolbar > click on the workspace.

Way 2 - Contextual toolbar

When the 1st shape is created, following ones can be created a lot easier and faster, using the contextual toolbar.

Select a shape > use any of available shapes from the contextual toolbar. And like you can see on the video below, this way flows are created automatically.

Not all of shapes can be created through the contextual toolbar. Only the most commun of them : Start, Database, Stored Data, Document, Multiple Documents, Flow, End, Action, Decision, Alternate Process, Merge.

Create Relationships

Way 1 - Drag&Drop

Drag&Drop a Flow tool from the toolbar OR select it from the toolbar > click on the shape > click on another shape to relate it.

Way 2 - Contextual Toolbar

When the 1st shape is created, following ones can be created a lot easier and faster, using the contextual toolbar.

Select a shape > use any of available shapes from the contextual toolbar.

Move Relationships and Labels

To move and adjust a relationship line, select it and play with the horizontal toolbar that will appear above (see picture below) OR move it manually by dragging the line bold points.

To move a relationship label, select it and drag to the needed position.

Rename Relationship Label

Select a relationship > double-click on the label to rename it.

Add Shape Own Properties

Select the shape element > select the Custom Properties tab from the Properties side panel (see pictures below) > click on Add Property button.

Fill the Key and Value fields > press the Valid button.

Discussion Side Panel

In the upper right corner you'll find the Discussion side panel. It can be used as a chat and a notepad at the same time, to discuss, leave notes or comments about your project.
